Pacific Grove - John R. Weber, 78, passed away at home on May 31, 2011. John was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 10, 1932. He had a great childhood in Hawaii and was evacuated to the Mainland after Pearl Harbor was bombed. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1955 and continued in graduate school to become a certified teacher and counselor in California.
He was a good husband, giving his wife, Dena, a kiss everyday. He loved to go fishing, caught and released all of the trout and savored the wild salmon he kept.
He had four sons, teaching them survival skills in the wilderness, surfing the ocean, and skiing in the mountains. John loved being in the outdoors, camping and having a fishing rod in his hands. He was a fine teacher and counselor, helping those who had difficulty in succeeding. He also coached water polo, swimming and fishing, having the only black water polo players in the country at that time.
