President John Weber’s Message:
Our Feb. 3 meeting was attended quite well considering.  We discussed the budget and made a few amendments.  Basically we will spring for more money to have more guest speakers.  The rest of the meeting was taken up with watching steelhead fishing on the Klamath, featuring Ed and Tom in the snow.   Some nice sized fish came up and Ed and Tom made great commentary.

Be sure to get in touch with Bill Lauster and pay your dues (375-8684)
Our March 3 meeting will be the same time and same place at 7:00 p.m.

Tight Lines, President John Weber

Meeting Location & Time: Tues. March 3rd
7 PM at the Carmel /Area Wastewater District:
The Waste Water Management Facility is at 3945 Rio Road.

Directions: Coming down Highway 1, turn left onto Rio Road, proceed past the Shopping centers and the post office. The building is about one half block past the Post office and Rancho Road. The driveway is on the left and the parking lot is in the rear.

The March Program:
The  Monterey County Fish and Game Commission?  Who the heck are they? Never heard of them?  No idea what they do now and are going to do in the future?  Welcome to the crowd.

To change that state of affairs, come to the March meeting of the Monterey Peninsula Fly Casters. Rich Hughett, the outgoing chair of the Commission will attend the meeting, and give us a brief pitch about exactly those things. Who are they, how are they funded, what is their mission, and what are their plans for the future.  Come out and learn something.

Oh, by the way, for you real old timers in the Club, Rich was the MPFC President sometime in the last century. Come by and renew your acquaintance.

Other ideas are welcome and solicited.

Upcoming Fishing Trips & Dates:

Pyramid Lake dates: March 26, 27, 28 Thurs, Fri. & Sat. fish 2 1/2 days.
From Doug Leach:
I believe all trailer spaces are taken but members can still go and stay in Reno or where ever and still fish with the club. I only have one trailer, which sleeps 5 people, so far, we have Leonard, myself and Tracy going, so we have two openings at this time. Anybody else who comes, would have to get rooms in Reno, because everything is booked at Pyramid during that time. We will leave very early Thursday morning, and be fishing Thursday pm. So you get two and a half days of fishing, come home on Sun. Anybody who wants to go, should call me, ASAP!

Oct 2009 Lower Sac Trip:
I just set up the fall trip on the Lower Sac.  The fishing dates are October 26th, 27th, and 28th.  I have held 7 guides and plan on a group of 14 flyfishers.  First come, first fish as always.  Deposits welcome if you want a space for sure.

Gone but not forgotten:
On a somber note........."g"  Gallatin Powers, one of our Sacramento river trip fly fishermen passed away last week.  A heart attack took him from us.  I’m sure we will remember his great attitude and solid meaningful laugh, whether or not he was catching fish!
